Can Drive
It’s time for our annual can drive by Grade 9 & 10 Leadership. The can drive has already begun, November 15th, and ends December 3rd of 2010. Riverdale’s goal is to raise 4000 cans, or even more! We’re working with the Otis Grant and Friend’s Foundation, Subways and 94.7 HITS F.M. Lets make this goal possible, bring in all the cans you have. Together, we can make a difference!
Thank You

Glee
Glee is said to be a bond between friends and schoolmates, performing together and having a great time singing and dancing.
We, Grade 10 Leadership, interviewed two members of Riverdale’s own Glee club, Sandra Somuah and Jahnaisa Corlett. To them, Glee has brought them closer to people that they would have never thought to be friends with.
Sunday, November 21st 2010, was their first showdown. Jahnaisa told us what it takes to win, “You just have to shake it off, and then give it your all.” Sandra told us that, “It was one of the best performances we’ve ever done!”
There were over 500 people in the audience. Out of nine schools, Riverdale’s Glee club wowed everyone and made 2nd place! Congratulations!

On Sunday October 3rd, several Riverdale students participated in CIBC’s Run for the Cure. Riverdale’s team, “RHS for the Cure,” raised over $1,000! The morning was filled with music, s great atmosphere and over 20,000 participants. This run takes place all over Canada, but this Montreal location alone raised over 2.1 million dollars. Several companies sponsored this event, such as; Revlon, running Room, New Balance, Jean Coutu, The Gazette and Saputo. They were giving away lots of free items for all who came. Revlon had a booth and were selling beauty products and all the funds went to the run itself. If you want to make a difference, come participate next year!

Penny Wars
Penny Wars was a huge success, congratulations to Grade 11 winning first place! Riverdale’s students raised over $1000.00 dollars on behalf of Riverdale’s Dragon Boat team and the missing children’s network. The competition was intense, it was a race between Grade 10 and 11 near the start, then towards the end the combined Grade 7 and 8 team surpassed Grade 10, taking second place.
